HISTORY OF AHMADIYYA MUSLIM HOSPITAL, TECHIMAN
A Brief History of Ahmadiyya Hospital in Techiman (Brong Ahafo Region, Ghana)
Plans to start the Ahmadiyya mission started in 1971. Then Dr. Bashir Ahmad Khan was invited to perform an emergency surgery on a patient at Holy Family Hospital. He told them that he did not have the permission to open and operate a hospital but it was finally to start operations on the 27th April and it was inaugurated in 1972. The guest of honor was the Omanhene of the Techiman traditional area, Nana Kwakye Ameyaw. Among the government officials was A. A. Munufie, the then parliamentarian of Techiman and Maulvi A. Wahab Adam the then regional missionary for Brong Ahafo region.
The hospital was opened in a private house. The house was donated by a member and a native of the Ahmadiyya Jama at in Techiman, Opanin Suleman Kwadwo Twi. In 1977, Dr. Khalid Hashmi expanded the premises of the hospital at the private house. Subsequent to the expansion, the hospital experienced a record time low patronage.
